Anne Pennie is a DONA trained Birth Doula, GentleBirth Instructor, Elephant ZooKeeper, and mother of two young boys.
In 2014, while pregnant with her first son, Anne watched several of the elephants she trains give birth to three healthy calves. Inspired by these animals, and how they supported each other through the births, Anne used this experience as a benchmark for her own pregnancy. She noticed how the elephants calmly birthed without disturbance and unnecessary intervention. In 2017, Anne used GentleBirth to calmly and confidently, bring her second son into the world.
Anne feels that every woman should be given the same opportunity, as the importance of having a non-judgemental and caring support team, for birth and postpartum, is vital for the mother’s experience and the health of the child.
Anne offers a variety of tools to help parents during the labour and birth of their child. Through her GentleBirth workshops and meeting personal birth clients, she also offers unbiased, evidence-based information to help them make informed decisions about such an important event in their lives. As a birth Doula, Anne will be with you every step of the way, to help you have your most positive birth experience.
Anne’s mission is to eliminate fears around childbirth.
